KID Museum Activities at KIDfest

KIDfest is KID Museum’s signature event—a mega-reflection of what we do year-round. Among the 80+ exhibitors expected this year, we’ll be bringing our own array of dynamic, hands-on activities to delight all ages. Kids and families can build a super-sized ball run with industrial pipes, program balloon-popping robots, assemble pinball games in the KID Arcade, make light-up Chinese lanterns, and experience 3D printer magic. You can also contribute to communal projects by weaving on our giant loom, drilling in our wooden mural, and growing our glowing garden of LED flowers.

By the main stage, check out KID Museum’s 6-foot-tall automaton—complete with a hand crank for visitors to move—that celebrates the evolution of technology. And don’t miss our Coding Jams and inspiring KIDtalks (like TED talks) led by local leaders and innovators. See the complete lineup of speakers.

KIDfest also marks the official kick-off of the second annual Invent the Future Challenge, KID Museum’s environmental design challenge for middle schoolers. Last year, the Challenge drew over 500 students from across the region. Middle schoolers are invited to visit the Invent the Future booth at KIDfest where they can learn about the Challenge and get the inspiration they need to invent the future! Find out more about the Invent the Future Challenge.

We’ll see you at the festival!

KIDfest takes place from 12pm – 5pm on Sunday, September 23 at One Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring, MD. Learn more at kidfest.org.
