Sunday Workshops

Our new 90-minute skill-building workshops offer a unique opportunity to work in small groups with our expert Maker Educators. Learn to use a range of tools, work with new materials, and build your maker skills. Workshops are drop-off activities for students, and the fee includes museum entry. Come early or stay after to enjoy all of KID Museum.

Access for Every Maker: We are dedicated to expanding access to all makers by providing free and reduced-cost ways to participate in our programming. Please use this form to reach out if program fees pose a financial hardship, and we’ll ensure you and your family can participate. 

INTRO TO ANIMATION: STOP MOTION

Makers will learn the basics of stop motion animation and how to create a movie out of a set of frames. They will develop a short skit, create scenes with clay and other materials, and film their masterpiece.

INTRO TO ELECTRONICS: CREATING CIRCUITS

Makers will learn about different ways to attach wires to create a circuit (push connectors and heat shrink) as they wire their own light up game.

INTRO TO ELECTRONICS: MOTOR CIRCUITS & MAKING THINGS MOVE

Makers will learn about different types of motor circuits and how to connect a circuit using heat shrink. They will then craft a one-of-a-kind vehicle and power it up using their choice of motor circuit.

INTRO TO THE ENGINEERING DESIGN PROCESS: BRIDGE BUILDERS

Makers will explore the engineering design process by building a bridge using simple materials. They will then test different structures to see which design can hold the most weight while learning about forces, balance, and stability.

INTRO TO THE ENGINEERING DESIGN PROCESS: SOLUTION FINDERS

Makers will explore solutions to real-world problems using the engineering design process and prototyping. They will take on a design challenge, learn construction techniques, and build the mindset of a problem solver and innovator.
