Summer Camps 2017

Community KIDs Camp

Weekly service camps for rising 6th – 9th graders

Make a difference in your community while earning SSL hours. Travel to a different organization each day: assemble sandwiches for Bethesda Cares; make dog toys and blankets for the animals at Washington Humane Society; mulch trails and remove invasive species at the Audubon Naturalist Society, etc. Other field trips include Martha’s Table, A Wider Circle, Capital Area Food Bank, and the Rock Creek Conservancy. Participants travel by group via public transportation, learning to navigate the bus and metro system. Community KIDs was founded five years ago by MCPS middle-school teacher, Sandra Cornell, and her daughter, Grace Center, a KID Museum Educator.

Be a part of a team, help those in need, and gain valuable work experience–all while having a great time!
