Cultural Programming

At KID Museum, we encourage the exploration of world cultures and global citizenship through a variety of programs for children and families that intersect culture and making.

A highlight of our cultural programming is World of Montgomery Festival, held each October. The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the rich diversity of Montgomery County through international music, food, dance, art, and maker-based activities, punctuated by the lively and popular Parade of Cultures. The festival draws 10,000+ attendees annually from across the region.

KID Museum continues the cultural focus throughout the year with monthly Cultural Days, where we partner with embassies and organizations to highlight different countries with hands-on maker activities, performances, and explorations of cultural traditions.

Upcoming Cultural Days:
– April 8: Indonesia Day
– May 19: Taiwan Day

Indonesia Day | Sunday, April 8

Indonesia is a diverse country in Southeast Asia consisting of more than 17,000 islands and 300 ethnic groups. With so many different ethnicities in one country, it is no wonder that the national motto is Bhinneka Tunggal Ika or Unity in Diversity.

Join us for Indonesia Day with our partners, the Embassy of Indonesia, Rumah Indonesia, and Spotlight Studio, to experience the kaleidoscope of cultures from the islands of Indonesia. The event will be held in both indoor and outdoor settings with hands-on activities and performances for the whole family to enjoy.
