KID Museum’s After-School Programs give kids the chance to experiment, create and experience something new.

Tuesday sessions – January 10th to March 14th, 2017

Space Invaders

4:30 – 6:00 pm. 5th – 7th Grade (max 6 participants)
We’re going old school! Build a customized video game arcade that really plays. Construct your game with wood and metal using drills, scroll saws and other woodshop tools. Add a Raspberry Pi and a game system emulator to play your favorite retro games. Please note: additional $50 fee for Raspberry Pi is included in the price of the workshop.

Gadget Lab prep

4:30 to 6:00 pm. 2nd – 4th Grade (max 6 participants)
Get ready for Gadget Lab Academy in Gadget Lab Prep. This introductory workshop series introduces younger kids to magnets, circuitry, and coding. Learn to use a heat gun, a drill, and other shop tools to make wired-up cigar box structures.

Wednesday sessions – January 11th to March 15th, 2017


4:30 to 6:00 pm. 5th – 7th Grade (max 6 participants)
Big kids, it’s your turn in the woodshop! Learn how to use tools, gain new skills, and put those skills to use. Design, build, and decorate wooden and mixed-media projects that are fun, practical, or both. Participants will also receive Level 1 woodshop certification, making them eligible for weekend workshops and Open Build sessions.

Maker Girls

4:30 – 6:00 pm. 2nd – 4th Grade (max 6 participants)
Let’s get making. Dive into everything KID Museum has to offer—use power tools in the woodshop, learn to code, design an object to be 3D-printed, sew your own textile creations, and experience mechanics by making an automaton. Get certified in each of our Maker Studios (Woodshop, Fab Lab, Textiles, and Electronics), and become eligible for weekend Open Build sessions.

Kinder Coders

4:30 – 5:30 pm. K – 1st Grade (max 8 participants)

Kinder Coders & Builders is specially designed for younger children. Explore electricity and circuits through fun, age-appropriate activities. Learn what it means to code by programming a KIBO Robot, and make your own moving robot creature! This class is open to those who took Kinder Coders in the fall, as well as new participants.

Thursday sessions – January 12th to March 16th, 2017


4:30 – 6:00 pm. 2nd – 4th Grade (max 6 participants)
Use a sewing machine with confidence, and strengthen essential skills in pattern reading, cutting, pinning, and pressing. Work with a wide variety of notions and materials to make playful patchwork projects, including ribbon bookmarks, embroidered bracelets, and drawstring backpacks. Beginners welcome.
