Sewing - Textiles

Tuesdays, March 28 - June 6

Code Heads (5th ‐ 7th Grade)

Get down to some serious coding this spring. Learn important coding concepts using drag-and-drop programming tools, as well as true typed code. Use inputs like sensors and push buttons to make coding magic happen in the physical world. Make cool games to take home, like a “reaction-action” game that tests your reaction time. No previous coding experience required. Max 12 participants.

Wednesdays, March 29 - June 7

Maker Mania (2nd ‐ 4th Grade)

Let’s get making! Dive into everything KID Museum has to offer—use power tools in the woodshop, learn to code using Scratch, design an object for 3D-printing, sew your own textile creations, and fabricate a wooden sketchbook. Get certified in each of our Maker Studios (Woodshop, Fab Lab, Textiles, and Electronics), and become eligible for weekend Open Build sessions. Max 6 participants.

Woodshop Workout (5th ‐ 7th Grade)

Design, build, and decorate wooden and mixed-media projects. Create your own games, ridonkulous cars or trains, and more. Receive Level 1 & Level 2 woodshop certification through this class, and become eligible for upper-level weekend workshops and Open Build sessions. Max 6 participants.

Girls’ Coding Club (2nd ‐ 4th Grade)

* April 5th – June 14th
Learn the basics of coding in a fun, all-girls environment. Use Scratch, a visual programming language, to make simple games and interactive stories. Then try out some text-based coding to create basic websites and digital study helpers. This class is suitable for beginner and intermediate programmers. Max 6 participants.

Thursdays, March 30 - June 8

Kinder Maker Explorations (K ‐ 1st Grade)

* 4:30 ‐ 5:30
Now younger kids can dive in to making with age-appropriate, hands-on workshops. Explore KID Museum’s Maker Studios: experiment with electricity and circuits, use woodshop tools like the scroll saw, practice designing in 3D, and learn about flight by building rockets! Max 8 participants.

Stitch Fix (2nd ‐ 5th Grade)

* Note different ages
Use a sewing machine with confidence, and strengthen essential skills in pattern reading, cutting, pinning, and pressing. Work with a wide variety of notions and materials to make projects like tote bags and zippered pouches. Beginners welcome! Max 6 participants.
